The IR Scanner is a locally deployed sensor unit designed to detect vehicle-specific information at defined points along the route. While vehicles are in motion, it captures relevant data in real time and makes this information immediately available to the traffic infrastructure. This enables situation-dependent control of routes, access points, and special zones – precise, automated, and efficient. Continuous data acquisition allows traffic flows to be differentiated in a targeted manner. For example, short vehicles can be preferentially guided into inner-city areas, while long vehicles or vehicle-trailer combinations are automatically routed along alternative paths. Access can also be selectively granted to specific vehicle types, such as allowing buses to enter designated stop areas while other traffic is diverted. Vehicles with a low battery charge can be directed to inductive charging zones, while vehicles with sufficient remaining charge continue without impacting traffic flow. The result is more efficient use of infrastructure while simultaneously relieving sensitive traffic areas.

With the programming device you can make various settings as well as software updates on your CarMotion trucks and buses. With an USB cable it is connected to the charging socket of the vehicle and to the USB-A socket of a computer or a hub, adapter or other. The user-friendly operating software communicates with the vehicle, provides information about the charging status, the distance travelled etc. Furthermore, it enables comfortable setting of various vehicle parameters such as speed, active functions, light brightness and many more. In particular, it is used for setting the desired reactions of the vehicles to the commands that can be triggered by the magnet arrangement in the roadway. Moreover, it is easy to copy configurations between vehicles.

The module allows the transmission of a variety of commands to CarMotion vehicles via infrared signals. These commands range from simple blinking to deceleration and stopping of CarMotion vehicles, for example in front of traffic lights. The two infrared transmitter diodes can be inconspicuously positioned alongside the road or placed horizontally in a small cut-out in the roadway or roadside. Like the vehicles, the module can be conveniently configured in the CarManager. All macros stored in the vehicles can be invoked by the module, including those that cannot be accessed through magnetic sequences for technical reasons. The two IR LEDs transmit different signals depending on the selected operating mode. One of the numerous applications is precise stopping in front of a traffic light or similar. The first IR LED is positioned some distance before the traffic light and sends the command for gradual deceleration when the traffic light is red. The vehicle then gently comes to a stop on an optional stop magnet (north pole). The second IR LED is located in close proximity to the traffic light and sends the start command when the light is green. The module is directly controlled by the Viessmann traffic light controller, items 5094 or 5095, or the level crossing items 5104 and 510) via the control input. The input also allows control of the module through a switch, relay contact, or DCC switch command using a suitable central control unit. The remote control facilitates the control of the CarMotion vehicles on the layout as well as a simple configuration of the vehicle. For this purpose the remote control is directed towards the front part of the vehicle where its infrared sensors are located. Distances larger than 50 cm require a very precise alignment of the remote control with the vehicle. Under favourable conditions a distance of up to 1 m is possible. The device is designed for a local control of the vehicles – driving on sight, so to speak. It can be used to start a vehicle – even from an active stop coil – and to stop it at any time. Furthermore, it is possible to set the vehicle speed and other vehicle functions such as lighting, blinking lights etc. For these basic configurations, it is not necessary to connect the vehicle to the programming device. Moreover, the remote control complements the vehicle control via the magnet arrangement underneath the roadway – thus the user can carry out complex operations and has further options to intervene.
