• Trying to get Commander to control Viessmann signals through multiplexer 5229 using automatic configuration through LSB connection. Unfortutely it seems impossible to obtain from Viewssmann dealers the LSB cables. IS the configuration of the cables different from normal cables used by Roco and Lenz with the same connectors?

  • Hallo custodian,

    i don`t have 5229, but i take roco-rückmelder.
So i think you can get roco cables because i don`t have problems.
You can get longer cables by Uhlenbrok, too. You must take attention that the cables ar not
"gedreht"(I don`t know the english word)It means Pin 1 goes to pin 1 pin 2 to pin 2 and so on.
Please see by hompage Uhlenbrok there is a discription from that cable they have gedreht und ungedreht.
It is the new cable wich Uhlenbrok has.
Viessmann will get such cables too, but i think not at that time. Please
    ask your dealer.

I hope you understand my english, but i have spoken before 50 years last time.

    Viel Grüße

  • Danke Herr Meier,

Entschuldigung.

    Viel Grüße

  • Zitat von Jürgen Meier

you can order the Viessmann number 5390, 5391, 5392 and 5393 by your Dealer.
The cable are non changed connectet in the plug. pin 1-6 on both side.

    Thank you.

I already ordered these but it is frustrating that delivery for a simple cable is taking so long, since I have had the multiplex units and signals for some weeks.

  • Hallo custodian,

    that it what i mean.
And i think simply, the dealers are sleeping.*
and i hope it must get better.

More and more dealer are closed. But wy? See there *

    Please not--- not all!

  • Thanks Dieter, but not sure the dealers are the ones that are sleeping. The other parts they ordered from Viessmann (another 5229 and a 4040) arrived quickly but for some reason, Viessmann don't seemt to have stock of the cables needed to get it to work together using the LSB bus.

One solution might be for me to buy a crimp tool and the plugs and make my own but shouldn't be needed. Maybe I could make a business supplying those dealers who can't get the cables from Viessmann :ugeek:

The Roco cables don't work, presumably because the pin orientation or reversal is different. I tried 3 Roco cables.

  • Hi Custodian,

I'm not familiar with XpressNet or LSB (same cable), but I'm sure of one thing, these cables are actually totally standard telephone wire...in the US (they look like EU phone cables but use 6 wires instead of 4 in Europe) see http://www.terdina.net/rails/xpressCable.htm

Now you may not know anybody in the US, but ordering a cable on amazon.com might take less time and cost the same amount as ordering to a train specialist in our Old Europe :D

  • Yes, you're probably right. The Xpressnet cable and the LSB cable seem to have different pin config; maybe one is straight through and one is reversed. I've tried the Roco xpressnet withoput success.

US supply is not a problem since I live there for half the year!

  • Well normally both should be straight. Maybe you have an issue not with the cabling but with compatibility (LSB is supposed to work with Xpressnet but not with all devices, since it's a "custom" Viessmann implementation).

Anyway, good that you can get supplies in the US...there are cables for less than a dollar on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Cmple-Ph…cts&qid=1282489589&sr=8-6) but you can probably find the same thing in any Radio Shack. For 1$, you won't risk too much trying :D
Just be careful to ask for an "RJ-12 Straight" cable.

RJ-12 means that all six cables are connected (some cables only use two or 4 wires, despite looking the same, because these are enough to connect a modern telephone).
